Damon Wayans Set to Star in CBS Comedy Pilot

The comedian/actor will headline show centered in sports radio.

Network television may once again get a taste of the Wayans now that CBS has sealed a deal with Damon to headline a multi-camera comedy pilot.

Set in a sports radio station, the show and its lead character Nick Herd (played by Wayans) is inspired by the sharp-tongued ESPN personality Colin Cowherd. Actor Danny Comden, whose past TV credits included Dirt and Pushing Daisies, has joined the cast as Herd’s manipulative show producer.

The pilot is written by Grounded for Life creators Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, and Cowherd will serve as a producer on the pilot.

Wayans, who comes from the famous comedic family behind the ground-breaking comedy show In Living Color, has built a career as an actor and comedian as well as a producer, writer, and director. The last TV shows he starred in were ABC's My Wife and Kids and the Showtime sketch comedy series The Underground.
