#BlackGirlMagic Ally: Andy Murray Corrects Ignorant Reporter About Venus and Serena Williams's Gold Medals
Overlooking Venus and Serena Williams? Not on Andy Murray's watch.
After Murray won his second consecutive Olympic gold medal earlier this week, a BBC reporter incorrectly declared the star the first "person" to win two Olympic medals in tennis.
"You're the first person ever to win two Olympic tennis gold medals," BBC reporter John Inverdale said to Murray, as reported by Mic.com. "That's an extraordinary feat, isn't it?"
Right then and there, the British tennis star had to set the record straight.
"I think Venus and Serena [Williams] have won about four each," Murray shot back.
Facts, though. Venus and Serena each have four gold medals on their resumes.
And Twitter wasn't about to let Inverdale live this down, roasting the reporter for his egregious error and saluting Murray for his on-air correction defending the Williams sisters.
Salute to Andy Murray.
