Master P: 'I Taught The Game How to be Business Men'

The No Limit legend sits down with The Breakfast Club.

Master P is the latest guest on The Breakfast Club and he stopped by to break down his upcoming biopic, Ice Cream Man: King of the South.

The No Limit leader revealed that he’s casting Charlamagne Tha God to play his uncle, who is someone very important to Master P’s life. “This person saved my life and got me to [a] hospital,” he recalls after getting shot in his neighborhood. “He was [the] only person in our family that had a car. If it was a minute later, I woulda been outta here.”

It seems like perfect timing that Master P would announce his film just weeks after Straight Outta Compton hit theaters. Master P and N.W.A followed similar paths, but the 48-year-old legend wants to hide nothing when he’s telling his come-up narrative.

“If you look at the history books, I came up after them and I taught everyone how to make money,” he says. “N.W.A was probably some of the best artists in the game at the time. And those same guys, from Jerry Heller to Bryan Turner to Jimmy Iovine, I dealt with all of them. But it was a different way. I told then, ‘I opened the door so artists could make money and could be business men after this.’ I felt like I taught the game how to be business men in this business.”

The film is going to be executive produced by Master P’s son Romeo and is expected to release in 2016. It’ll be produced by Master P’s in-house team from No Limit Forever.

Watch the rest of the interview below where he talks about his discrepancies with Eazy-E’s portrayal in Straight Outta Compton, why his story will be raw and uncut and more.
