Black Theater Companies Stage Benefit Production Honoring James Baldwin

A number of Black actors and theaters in several cities across the country will lend their talents to a benefit production of James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner Monday, June 18, 2012 for the 1 Voice, 1 Play, 1 Day project.

A number of Black actors and theaters in cities across the country will lend their talents to a benefit production of James Baldwin's three-act play The Amen Corner on Monday, June 18, for the 1 Voice, 1 Play, 1 Day project.

Twenty-five African-American theaters are set to take part in the project, founded by Project1Voice, a not-for-profit national performing arts service organization that advocates on issues specifically affecting Black theater.

The New York City staging will feature talents such as Tony Award-winner Lillias White, Chuck Cooper and Adriane Lenox.
