Viola Davis wins top AAFCA 2011 honors. See the complete list of films and performers who won this year’s awards.

Viola Davis’s controversial performance inThe Help has already snagged her the Best Actress of 2011 award from the African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA), with her co-star Octavia Spencer earning Best Supporting Actress. The organization announced the complete list of its 2011 honorees at a press conference at Universal Studios on December 11.

Tree of Life, directed by Terrence Malick, was hailed the Best Picture of 2011 while Woody Harrelson won Best Actor (Rampant) and Albert Brooks rounds out the top honors as Best Supporting Actor (Drive). The organization, which is comprised of African-American media professionals across the country, chose the honorees based on a majority vote and also picked a top 10 list of movies of the year.

“If you closely examine the films that AAFCA has selected this year, you will find stories about people whoare wrestling with their own humanity in all its forms,” said Founder Gil Robertson IV, AAFCA president. “From the loss of a cherished loved one, to sexual addiction and social corruption, our selections this year individually and collectively make a strong statement on life’s challenges that all of us may face.”
