BET Awards 2022: Meet the Young Star Nominees Taking the Entertainment Industry by Storm
These rising stars are gradually taking Hollywood by storm, with many having already starred in some of the biggest movies and television to date. The BET Awards 2022 honors all figures and aspects of Black Hollywood. Still, it’s something about young stars like Marsai Martin becoming the youngest person to produce a studio film or breakout stars Demi Singleton and Saniyya Sidney taking on the roles of the tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams in King Richard that just warms our hearts. So, ahead of the BET Awards 2022, check out the nominees in the running for the "Young Stars Award" Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. EST, live at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
Akira Akbar
The young actress rose to fame thanks to her role as Monica Rambeau in Captain Marvel, marking her first ever feature-length film. The teen has also starred in WE Can Be Heroes, and This is Us. She currently stars as Ashley Banks in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Peacock reboot Bel-Air.
Demi Singleton
Actress, singer, and dancer Demi Singleton is best known for her role in the crime TV series Godfather of Harlem. She also played the young Serena Williams in the biopic, King Richard.
Marsai Martin
Marsai Martin has been blowing through the friendly competition on her way to building an entertainment empire. In 2019, she starred and produced her own feature-length movie Little, making her the youngest person to produce a studio film.

Miles Brown
Miles Brown made viewers laugh out loud thanks to his performance as Jack Johnson in ABC hit series black-is alongside fellow BET Awards 2022 nominee Marsai. The actor also raps and dances and has racked in several accolades for his contributions to the industry.
Saniyya Sidney
Only 15, but Saniyya Sidney already has an impressive resume. After starring in projects including FX’s American Horror Story Roanoke, the biographical feature film Hidden Figures, and more recently King Richard, Saniyya has earned several nominations, including two Critics' Choice Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
