Drake, Pharrell, Jaden Smith to Hit the Airwaves for Apple
Apple is recruiting the big guns to launch their new streaming music service. Now that they've made nice with Taylor Swift, the company has called in Pharrell, Drake, Jaden Smith, Dr. Dre and more to help launch Beats 1 Radio.
The news was spilled to the New York Times by Zane Lowe, the British radio DJ who will be the head honcho on-air at Beats 1 (his first interview with the service, which goes live on Tuesday [June 30] is with Eminem), and in the interview he shares that Elton John, Disclosure, Ebro Darden and also among the music stars who will bring their voices to the free streaming radio station.
Knowing Apple, this cross-pollination of talent and platforms might mean some exclusive sneak peeks to this year's most anticipated albums. The one we're keeping an eye out for in particular is Pharrell's work on Adele's latest, and his new song "Freedom," which he debuted at Glastonbury this weekend.
Beats 1, you got our attention. We'll be listening.
