Swizz Beatz And Timbaland Broke The Internet With An Epic Beat Battle On Instagram Live
Hip-hop and R&B haven’t stopped the music in spite of the coronavirus pandemic. Artists and musicians have been taking to social media, particularly Instagram, to keep the good vibes going even though the nation is stuck indoors and social distancing for the foreseeable future.
Following in the footsteps of DJ D-Nice’s epic #ClubQuarantine this past weekend, two of hip-hop’s premiere beatmakers took up the mantle and put their own spin on the virtual party movement. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz took to Instagram Live on Tuesday (March 24) where they went head-to-head in a virtual beat battle contest. Timb made the announcement via Instagram.
“Attention, attention, attention...10 o’clock if you on the East Coast, 7 o’clock if you on the West Coast. It’s official, we doing this for the culture,” he shared. “Me and Swizzy gon’ go at it to the clock, baby. IG Live. Timb added that he was hype and ready to go, promising viewers “it's gonna be a good one.”
Prior to the festivities, Swizz gave fans a prelude to what the battle would entail, and posted a series of videos of himself getting into the zone.

Once the battle commenced, more than 20,000 people tuned in for the soundclash between the heavyweight hitmakers. The Internet got every inch of their life as Timb and Swizz dished out hip-hop and R&B classics one after the other. At one point, Timb stepped away for a bathroom break, and Swizz did not pass up the hilarious opportunity to check him about handwashing.
“Did you wash your hands, man?” Swizz posed. “You know you gotta wash them things up. You know what’s going on out here, man.”
The tables turned when Swizz caught some flack over his poor Wi-Fi connection.
Nonetheless, fans caught the experience of a lifetime from the beat battle. Check out their reactions to Timb and Swizz’s face-off below.
