Rapper Hopsin Contemplates Suicide
L.A. rapper Hopsin contemplated taking his life, via a series of tweets posted Wednesday (Nov. 7) and Thursday (Nov. 6). "If there was ever a day I was gonna blow my brains out, it would be today for sure," he wrote early Wednesday morning.
One source of Hopsin's angst appears to be his rap career. The 28-year-old, born Marcus Jamal Hopsin, is on the cusp of unveiling album number three, Knock Madness, and tweeted about "leaving" after it comes out. "I was thinking about leaving after my album dropped and toured, but I just might do it today."
He spoke on more troubles adding, "Gave my personal life to a chick and my rap skills to the game, and they both get f---ed in the end," before trashing his album a second later. "I could honestly care less about any of this knock madness s---. I just wanna go skate my life away."
Another post warned against getting into the rap game all together. "Don't become a rapper," you will become a zombie if you do. I should have been a porn star," followed by a threat to leak the project.
Hopsin's frustration is a switch from a HipHopDX.com interview last month, where he sounded excited to share new music. "I haven’t released an album in three years," he said. "So people haven’t really seen what I can do or who I am. Everybody in my [2012] XXL Freshmen [class] I think did their thing. I haven’t come out with mine yet. This is my time. From all the hype you’ve ever seen from Hopsin, this is that moment of truth.”
Knock Madness is slated for release Nov. 26.
