This past Friday (April 15), President Obama kicked off the weekend by inviting a dozen or so A-list musicians to the White House to talk shop about criminal justice reform, and as a result gave us all the feels.

The administration’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative was the focus of the afternoon. The initiate aims to “address persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people can reach their full potential.”

According to reports, the artists selected to join, including J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper, Rick Ross, Common, Pusha T, DJ Khaled, Ludacris and Alicia Keys, all were invited because each has “found ways to engage on the issues of criminal justice reform and empower disadvantaged young people across the country.”
