Gucci Mane Stars in Trap God Art Exhibit
Rarely does a trap god get a drop like this.
Maryland-born, Morehouse-educated photog Cam Kirk will release never-before-seen pics of Gucci Mane in an art installation opening this Saturday (May 30).
"I’ve been sitting on these pictures of Gucci since I first started taking photos," Kirk told Mass Appeal. "He’s one of the first artists I got to work with."
Around that time (circa 2012), Gooch had just served a six month bid for battery and disorderly conduct. And within a couple of years, he was back in jail for a pair of run-ins with fans –– one of which involved a fight after he refused to take a photo with a soldier.
The polarizing star is now serving a three year sentence for weapons possession; he's expected home in 2017.
"That was so early in my career that photography wasn’t even a focus for me," Kirk said of when he managed to get a glimpse of Gucci. "... But I never put them out, I never really knew what to do with them. I knew I just wanted to hold them for something worthwhile — because that’s Gucci Mane."
Kirk now counts Pharrell, Future and Rae Sremmurd as artists in his portfolio. His work, featured by such outlets as The Source, XXL, MTV and Revolt TV.
"I don’t want this to be an exploitation of Gucci," Kirk continued. "The event’s free — it costs you not-a-penny to come in." And if that's not innocent enough, it will be held at an abandoned East Atlanta church.
