Trump Tweets Quote Saying He’s The ‘Second Coming Of God’ After Calling Jewish Democrats ‘Disloyal’

A right-wing radio host also described him as the “King of Israel.”

After weeks of largely baseless claims of anti-semitism against Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, Donald Trump decided to continue his actual history of anti-semetic remarks on numerous fronts.

Just a few hours ago, the president let off a tweetstorm during which he quoted a far right wing radio host who deployed numerous anti-semitic tropes.

Between literal quotation marks, Trump cited Wayne Allyn Root, a conspiracy theorist who has previously claimed the Las Vegas shooting was a hoax and Barack Obama was not born within the United States, who described Trump as “the second coming of God.”

“President Trump is the greatest President for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world, not just America, he is the best President for Israel in the history of the world...and the Jewish people in Israel love him like he’s the King of Israel," Trump tweeted, quoting Root.

“They love him like he is the second coming of God,” he continued after beginning the series of tweets thanking Root "for the very nice words" about him. “But American Jews don’t know him or like him. They don’t even know what they’re doing or saying anymore. It makes no sense! But that’s OK, if he keeps doing what he’s doing, he’s good for.....

“.....all Jews, Blacks, Gays, everyone. And importantly, he’s good for everyone in America who wants a job. Wow!  @newsmax @foxandfriends @OANN,” Trump concluded.

  • Aside from the odd “King of Israel” comment that is now trending on Twitter, Trump’s quoting of the notion that American Jews “don't even know what they’re doing or saying anymore” is a clear echo of an anti-semitic trope that Jewish people have shifty and/or divided loyalty.

The tweet harkens back to remarks the president made just yesterday during a discussion with reporters in which he questioned why Jewish people would even consider voting Democratic.

"Where have they gone where they're defending these people over the state of Israel? And I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty," he said.

  • After the discussion with reporters, many condemned the president’s remarks. The American Jewish Committee issued a statement calling Trump’s language “shockingly divisive and unbecoming of the occupant of the highest elected office."

AJC said, "American Jews – like all Americans – have a range of political views and policy priorities. His assessment of their knowledge or ‘loyalty,’ based on their party preference, is inappropriate, unwelcome, and downright dangerous.”

It should also be noted that the Jewish faith does not believe in a second coming of God.

Wayne Allyn Root has a history of spreading controversial conspiracy theories and making anti-semitic remarks.

He claimed the white supremacist who killed Heather Heyer at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville in 2017 was “probably an actor paid by George Soros,” a Jewish philanthropist.

Twitter is also reacting to Trump’s latest tweets about Jewish people coupled with his remarks about them yesterday.
