The day before Hillary Clinton formally announced she would seek the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, President Barack Obama told reporters on Saturday that he believes Clinton, who served as his first-term secretary of state, would make an "excellent president."
"She was a formidable candidate in 2008. She was a great supporter of mine in the general election. She was an outstanding secretary of state. She is my friend," Obama said at a regional summit in Panama City.
"I think she would be an excellent president."

Citing sources on Clinton's campaign team, several media outlets have reported that Clinton, 67, is likely to announce her candidacy on Sunday.
Clinton is the clear frontrunner for the nomination as of now. She leads opinion polls among Democrats with 60 percent saying they would vote for her in the primaries, according to RealClearPolitics. No other Democrats, including Vice President Joe Biden, have formally announced their intentions to run, although at least two former governors are exploring the idea.
