On Sunday night, Maverick City Music took home four Grammy awards at the 65th annual show. Their album, Breathe, which was released in 2021, won "Best Contemporary Christian Album". 

Breathe is the debut album from Maverick City Music and features a collection of gospel and worship songs that showcase the choir's powerful vocals and electrifying energy. 

The album includes popular tracks such as "Promises," "Refuge," and "Man of Your Word," which have been praised for their uplifting messages and soulful delivery. The production of Breathe is top-notch, with a full band, choir, and special guests adding depth and variety to the sound. Overall, the album is a must-listen for fans of gospel music and anyone looking for a powerful and moving musical experience.

Shortly after their win on Sunday night, the group spoke to BET.com about the evolution of gospel and Christian music.

"What I love about gospel music and even Black culture as a whole, is that is a culture of evolution. The thing about black music, gospel music is it doesn't just sound like one thing," Chandler Moore stated.

Naomi Raine, also a member of Maverick City Music, chimed in to talk about delivering the message of Christian music.

"The gospel is a message, so we get to be more creative. I think it's evolving and  I think we're stepping out from just having to do a traditional sound and be more open to saying 'Hey, how can we get this message out with different sounds?'" Raine stated.
