Linwood Lambert Jr., an African-American man, died after being shocked several times by South Boston, Va., police officers in 2013, footage released Wednesday shows. His family filed a wrongful lawsuit earlier this year, and the video supports allegations made by Lambert's family, according to the Roanoke Times.
"The death of Linwood Lambert Jr. is tragic because it could have been prevented,” said plaintiff lawyer Ramon A. Arreola. 
Lambert was reportedly staying at a South Boston motel and was making noises that caused neighbors to complain. Police handcuffed the 46-year-old and told him that they would take him to the emergency room. But when they arrived to the hospital, Lambert would see his final moments instead of getting the help he needed.
Reports say Lambert kicked through the rear window, ran from the police car and "crashed" into hospital doors. After this, Lambert was shocked by stun guns by the three officers. He was then taken to a jail instead of inside the hospital. There, he was given CPR at 5:30 a.m. and then was transported back to the medical facility. By 6:23 a.m., he was dead.
Lambert's cause of death was documented as cocaine intoxication. The lawsuit filed by the family stated that his cause of death was heart failure. 
Currently, the incident is being investigated by Halifax County Commonwealth's Attorney Tracy Q. Martin.
