Fans Are Kicking Down Killer Mike's Door After His Interview With The NRA

The Run The Jewels emcee has issued an official apology.

Atlanta emcee and socio-political activist Killer Mike landed on the not-so-noble side of controversy when the National Rifle Association (NRA) published an interview to combat the youth-organized March For Our Lives demonstrations, a protest against America’s loose gun control laws amid an influx of recent school shootings.

NRATV released the interview with the Run The Jewels emcee discussing the critical importance of Black gun ownership.

“The tears of white mothers are like ratings,” Killer Mike recited from an NRA spokeswoman during the conversation with host Colion Noir. The two tossed points back-and-forth with each other about the hotly debated gun control controversy as Mike argued that those who have called him out for support of the Second Amendment are “lackeys” of the progressive movement. He added that even among his own family, he has strongly reinforced his position.

“And I told my kids on the school walkout, ‘I love you—if you walk out that school, walk out my house,’” he said. “That simple.”

His sentiments were poignant, but also poorly received by many of his fans who were exposed to it during a time where dozens of teenagers across the country voiced their heartbreak for the fatal school shootings paralyzing their academic communities.

However, the “Big Beast” rapper had an explanation for all of it.

  1. The pro-gun rights organization released Killer Mike's interview, which mainly focused on Black gun ownership, two days before the youth's March For Our Lives demonstrations

  2. Much backlash followed, and Killer Mike clarified in a two-part apology that his interview was conveniently and connivingly used by the organization to combat a noble cause he also supports

  3. Some of his industry mates, like his Run The Jewels partner EI-P, also responded to the controversy...
