Offset Performs First Show Since Takeoff’s Death: ‘Doing This For My Brother’
One month after the tragic shooting death of his cousin and Migos groupmate, Takeoff—Offset returned to the stage for a small show at a Miami club.
Page Six reports that his wife, Cardi B, was also at the club where the 30-year-old Rapper performed at one of the annual Art Basel weekend kickoff events. Chance the Rapper was also in the audience for the show.
“We're doing this for my brother," Offset told the crowd before launching into hits including "Bad and Boujee" and "Clout," according to the report.
“For Takeoff, let's do this s---," he added.
Cardi recently told “The Neighborhood Talk” that the couple is still grieving the loss, saying, “We’re living our life normally, but deep down inside our hearts have been so heavy,” adding, “I feel like if I talk about – the internet’s so desensitized – how we really feel, what motherf–kers really been going through, y’all would start saying, ‘Oh sympathy.’”
“We don’t want no sympathy,” Cardi continued. “We ain’t no charity case, but no lie, I have been feeling so hopeless trying to make my husband happy, Trying to make him crack a smile.”
Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot on Nov. 1 at a private party in Houston. He was 28.
In an Instagram post, Offset shared his thoughts on the loss saying, in part, “My heart is shattered and I have so many things to say, but I can’t find the words. I’ve been going to sleep and waking up hoping that all of this is a dream, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.”
