Pharrell's "Happy" Tops Billboard Charts
Pharrell can count a new No. 1 single on his resume. Skateboard P's "Happy" track has officially topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week, giving the singer/songwriter/producer his very first solo single to snag the coveted spot.
Grabbing the No. 1 spot means "Happy" has unseated Katy Perry's Juicy J-assisted single "Dark Horse," which has been sitting atop the charts for the last four weeks.
To date, Pharrell has been featured on three No. 1 singles, Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot," "Money Maker" by Ludacris and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." As a producer, the Neptunes member has nabbed two No. 1 singles, Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl."
"Happy" was released on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack last summer and serves as the lead single off the 40-year-old's upcoming sophomore album, G I R L.
P will perform the Oscar-nominated single at the Academy Awards this Sunday (March 2).
