[VIDEO] High School Student Puts Her Verbally Abusive Teacher on Blast

Shaniaya Hunter was called "dumb" and much worse.

Shaniaya Hunter, a Georgia high school student, has come forward with an audio recording of one of her teachers verbally assaulting her in front of the entire class. Hunter, who suffers from an eye condition that occasionally forces her to miss school, was trying to catch up on class work she had missed before an upcoming test, when the teacher began insulting her.
According to Hunter and her attorney, the teacher has a history of verbal abuse toward students and Hunter decided to come forward with the receipts because the harsh words were becoming unbearable.

Hunter recorded the tirade on a school-issued iPad, with the teacher saying, “You know, you might be the dumbest girl I have ever met in my life. I have been around for 37 years, and clearly, you are the dumbest girl I have ever met.” The teacher continues, “You know what your purpose is gonna be? To have sex and have children because you’re never gonna be smart.”

During the recording, you can hear students shuffling and reacting, with one even saying, “That’s rude,” in response to the teacher’s insults.

Hunter’s mother approached the school board about the incident, but said their response was not enough. Now, attorney Ben Windham has agreed to take on their case pro bono. “The man does not need to be teaching young children. It’s not a gray area. End of story,” Windham said.

“I don’t think it’s OK. I don’t think he should be here,” Hunter said, adding that she is not the first student in class to fall victim to the teacher’s abusive words.
Sadly, students being mistreated in schools has been in the news on more than one occasion in recent months, but the omnipresence of smart phones and devices like Hunter's have allowed students to provide proof of misconduct.
