Offset Gives His Thoughts On Being Labeled The ‘Real Star’ Of The Migos

“It kills them so much, and I can see the darkness in their face.”

The Migos is gearing up to drop their highly-anticipated Culture III album, and the rap trio recently spoke to Highsnobiety

  • In the profile, Offset, Takeoff, and Quavo touched on their synergy that has helped them emerge to the forefront of rap as some of Atlanta’s premier trapateers. ‘Set spoke a little on how his relationship with Cardi B, and the resulting attention of their relationship, has given some the perception that he’s bigger than the rest of the group. ‘Set doesn’t think his relationship with the Bronx-bred rapstress makes him the ‘real star’ of the Migos, and refutes assertions from anyone who thinks so. He made it clear that he rejects anyone placing him on a pedestal above his group mates.

“People tell me all the time, ‘You’re married to Cardi B. You’re the real star,’” ‘Set admitted. However, he said he shuts “that down immediately.”

“And it kills them so much, and I can see the darkness in their face. By even telling me I’m the star, you’re killing my memories. Period,” he added. As for his wife’s success, ‘Set had nothing but praise for Cardi given how far she’s come. He also spoke on how the two knew they were made for each other before they made things official.

“My wife’s success is one of the biggest things I’ve ever been a part of. She didn’t feel like she had it at one point. The world didn’t think she could rap,” he said. “But I can tell when somebody is going to last, and when I met her, I was already wanting to know her before I ever even heard a song by her. That’s why she f**ks with me and why our s**t is so genuine. I did done some f***ed up s**t, but she knows that I f***ed with her before I even knew she rapped. I knew she was a lost soul that was a superstar.”

  • Elsewhere in the interview, Quavo gave fans a tease as to what they can expect from Culture III. He said fans can expect to hear “new sounds” and “new cadences” from the Migos. Previously, Quay told Billboard that the group was eyeing a summer drop for the release. He also shared that the upcoming project will be the “last chapter” of the Migos’ Culture series.
