Joss Stone Fine After Thwarted Kidnapping Attack

The U.K. singer talks cooking, singing barefoot and close criminal call

British singer Joss Stone, who rocked the airwaves at age 16 with a mature sound that instantly reminded parents of Teena Marie, is playing it cool with the idea she was almost hog-tied and a victim of grave criminal mischief in an interview with Popeater.com.

Last week, the British media caught wind of an alleged robbery against the singer by two men who were near her home with a rope, a sword and a body bag. Said to be worth about $14 million, British police saw money as the main reason why the 24-year-old Grammy award winner was targeted. But just like her music, Stone was laid-back in her interview, saying “I'm fine. They didn't manage it so it's all good.”

On a lighter note, the songstress explains she likes to perform barefoot so as not to trip over wires and her own performance nervousness for fear of falling on stage. Dare we say it’s a British thing, considering super-star-sexy-singer Sade leaves the pumps backstage more often than not when hitting the concert tours?

For Stone’s part, who's been linked to Raphael Saadiq, she says she likes to bake and paint when not performing. Telling Popeater about her side-income deal with the U.K. post office, Stone says, “I give them [her baking goods] to the post office and they sell them. They've been giving me half the profits, which I find quite friendly.” So if those who in live the U.K., you can buy your stamps and snatch up a Joss Stone baked goodie at the same time. How’s that for a side business!
