"You're very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here. Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas. But you know what, I like you," Trump said to the Navajo Code Talkers.

While running for Senate in 2012, Warren's opponent and Republican incumbent Scott Brown created ads attacking Warren for her claims of being Native American. Although no official documents have been found to prove Warren's purported heritage, she's maintained her family stories prove her Cherokee and Delaware Indian heritage.

This was further called into question when Brown accused Warren of citing her self-proclaimed Native American heritage to further her career when she applied to jobs at Harvard Law School and University of Pennsylvania Law School. Although there is no proof she ever checked a box citing she was Native American on her application, she was listed as a minority in the American Association of Law Schools directory, reported the Washington Post.

While campaigning for president in 2016, Trump often referred to Warren as "Pocahontas" as a dig at her controversial history.
