2023 NAACP Image Awards: Danielle Deadwyler’s Range Proves Limitless With These Stunning Performances

The Atlanta-based actress has been making strides in Hollywood since her action-packed performance in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall. While she may be new to the scene, Deadwyler wastes no time showing off her wide creative range. Ahead of this year’s NAACP Image Awards, where the rising star is nominated in several categories, including “Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture” for her role in Till, check some of the actress’s best performances so far, proving that her range is limitless.
The Harder They Fall
Deadwyler portrayed Cuffee, Stagecoach Mary's bouncer, in Netflix 2021 Black Western The Harder They Fall. The character is based on Cathay Williams, a Black woman who disguised herself as a man to enlist in the army under the name William Cathay. As a result, she became the first documented woman to serve in the United States Army.
Atlanta / S2E7: Champagne Papi’
Many may not know that the rising actress made several appearances in popular shows such as Watchmen, P-Valley, and Greenleaf before starring in hit films like The Harder They Fall. However, one of her most memorable performances includes a small role in Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed series Atlanta for an episode titled “Champagne Papi.”
Till
Deadwyler transforms entirely for her role as Mamie Till-Bradley in the 2022 biographical drama Till. The film follows Mamie Till, an educator, and later activist who pursued justice following the murder of her 14-year-old son Emmett Till in 1955.
