Wendy Williams Breaks Down In Tears While Admitting She’s Living In A Sober House And Struggling With Addiction

The talk show host made the brave confession on air.

During Tuesday's episode of her morning talk show, Wendy Williams bravely revealed that she has been quietly struggling with substance abuse for the last several months and has recently taken major steps toward ensuring that she does not relapse.

Before closing out the latest episode of her eponymous talk show, Williams, while addressing her viewers, shockingly shared that she has been living in a sober house while struggling with addiction.

"I have been living in a sober house," she said. "You know, I've had a struggle with cocaine in the past. I never went to a place to get treatment... There are people in your family, it might be you... I want you to know more of the story."

The talk show maven, while wiping tears away from her eyes, added that her husband and son, Kevin Hunter and Kevin Hunter Jr., respectively, are the only people who knew she was actively seeking treatment.

"Only Kevin and Kevin [Jr.] knows about this," she continued. "Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here. I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to a home that I live in the tri-state with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family."

Further detailing her current living situation, she said, "It's doors locked by 10 p.m., lights out by 10 p.m., so I go to my room and stare at the ceiling and fall asleep to come here and see you. So, that is my truth."

  • As previously reported, Williams' Hunter Foundation recently partnered with T.R.U.S.T, an organization solely dedicated to bridging the gap between treatment and long-term recovery, to launch her own national resource and substance abuse hotline.

Shortly after her on-air confession, several of Williams' fans and peers took to Twitter to voice their support of her and to commend her for displaying such courage.
