NBA Players Set to Put New CBA to Vote
It appears the NBA lockout is about to move another step closer to officially ending.
SI.com is reporting the NBA players will begin voting on the new proposed collective bargaining agreement Wednesday afternoon. That’s a good thing because training camps are tentatively set to open Friday.
Electronic voting is expected to begin at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday and players will have until 4 p.m. Thursday to place their vote.
There isn’t expected to be any holdup in ratifying the new agreement. The “B-list” items were the biggest obstacle that remained after the owners and players reached an agreement on Nov. 26. But apparently those issues have been worked through and now all that is needed is a vote from both sides to go forward with officially ending the labor stalemate that began July 1 when the owners locked out the players.
Since Nov. 26, players have been allowed back into the arenas to start working out and being seen by doctors. But no practices have been held. Teams have also started discussing contracts and free agency with agents.
The 66-game schedule is set to kick off on Christmas Day.
