Cardi B Trial Date Postponed Due To Lawyer Suffering Health Problems
Cardi B will have to take the stand at a later date as her lawyer is said to be dealing with health problems at this time according to Law & Crime.
In an order shared last Friday, U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney has postponed the court date from August 3rd to October 18th at 8:30am, a week after the “WAP’ rapper’s birthday.
“Due to the unavailability of defense counsel because of serious illness, the Court CONTINUES the trial date in this case to Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 8:30 a.m,” reads the order.
“Defendants are ORDERED to substitute new counsel by Friday, August 12, 2022. A status conference with Defendants’ new counsel and Plaintiff’s counsel will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.”
The rapper is in court due to musician and surfer Kevin Michael Brophy claiming the cover to her first album, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1, misappropriates his likeness because it features his distinctive back tattoo in the imagery of the man performing oral sex on the Hustlers star.
Brophy is represented by A. Barry Cappello and Larry Conlan of Cappello & Noël in Santa Barbara.
“We’ve been ready to try this case for two years now,” said Conlan in an email to the publication.
“Of course we’re not happy about another delay, but it will be brief, and then our client can finally get this invasion of his privacy stopped and justice served.”
We’ll see if the rapper is able to win this case as she recently won her case again YouTube blogger Tasha K and will be paid $4 Million in damages for defamation.
This gives the mother of two the freedom to garnish her wages and personal property to help satisfy the jury’s judgement.
