IRS to Garnish Nas’s Wages
The IRS is taking some affirmative action against rap star Nas. Tired of waiting on the Queensbridge rapper to settle his delinquent $6 million tax debt, the folks over at the internal revenue service will begin to garnish his wages.
According to TMZ, the government has filed papers in the state of Georgia to have funds taken out of Nas’s music publishing earnings. Any material the rapper produces under publishing companies BMI and ASCAP will see a portion of that cash go to Uncle Sam until the tax bill is settled.
As previously reported, the rapper's tax debt ballooned to $6 million last year after he originally owed the government $2.5 million in 2006.
The heavy collecting will likely start when Nas releases his much-anticipated 10th album, Life Is Good, later this year.
