EXCLUSIVE: Nicole Murphy Uses Her Extra Time As An 'Empty Nester' To ‘Pamper’ Herself — Here's How!
As a model, Nicole Murphy has had the opportunity to try a wide range of beauty brands—some expensive, some more affordable. During her times in the glam chair, the skincare enthusiast says she often found herself fantasizing about creating her own brand that she could stand behind 100%.
Fast-forward to today, the entrepreneur has successfully launched yFOY (Your Fountain of Youth), an affordable beauty and lifestyle brand that sells a wide range of products to encourage customers of all ages to embrace who they are and own it.
“Self-care is about taking care of yourself,” Murphy tells BET Lifestyle about her company that encourages everyone to take time each day to love on themselves—especially moms.
“It’s okay to be a little selfish with yourself,” the mom-of-five shared with a chuckle. “As moms, I think we get lost in the sauce and we sometimes forget about ourselves. Even if you only have 30 minutes, take that time to pamper yourself in some kind of way.”
The 54-year-old star says as an “empty nester” she has a lot more time to pamper herself when she’s not spending quality time with her grandbaby.
“I take bubble baths now because I have time to relax,” she happily revealed. Amongst her list of ways to relax include lighting a candle, listening to music, and working out.
“I exercise. I try to always stay active,” she explained before reminding us that you don’t have to go to a gym to meet your health goals. “Like today, I didn't make it to the gym so what I'm gonna do is try to walk a lot. I'm gonna take the stairs instead of taking the escalator or the elevator.”
The busy mom is also an advocate for dancing in her chair. “If you're listening to music and moving your torso it starts to burn. It’s like you did a bunch of crunches,” she told us.
As for her secret for staying youthful, she starts with laughter and enjoying life. It is also about enjoying lasting moments with those you love. “I'm enjoying my time. I want to be able to keep running after my grandbaby. I want to go get on the rides with her. I just try to stay active, do yoga, and just move.”
