2 Live Crew and Ying Yang Twins Sue CBS Interactive
2 Live Crew and the Ying Yang Twins are among a group of rap artists who filed suit in California today against CBS Interactive and its Web site CNET.com.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the disgruntled plaintiffs claim that CNET is responsible for creating and promoting peer2peer sharing software, like LimeWire, which is the subject of a huge jury trial to determine if they owe billions in damages related to Internet piracy.
“Defendants are liable as vicarious infringers for the copyright infringement committed via P2P client software that Defendants created, distributed and promoted, including LimeWire and others,” reads the lawsuit.
JT Money, the Force MD’s, J-Shin and Pretty Ricky are listed as other plaintiffs in the suit.
The CBS-owned site also offered downloads of other P2P programs like Morpheus, iMesh and Frostwire. Plaintiffs are seeking millions in damages and lawyer fees.
