The Washington Wizards are straight trolling Kevin Durant out here.

On Thursday, the team signed head coach Scott Brooks to a five-year, $35 million deal, as confirmed by USA Today Sports.

The move is significant, considering Brooks coached KD with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2008-2015, before being fired last April. With Durant headed toward free agency this summer, the Wizards are clearly doing everything in their power to create a certain comfort level to lure him home to Washington, D.C.

KD definitely has a love and level of respect for Brooks, as evidenced by his Instagram post last year after learning the Thunder had axed the coach.

"Today was tough for me. While I support our team's decision 100% and look forward to the upcoming season and the future in OKC, Scotty was my friend and a coach for the past seven seasons," Durant wrote. "We accomplished a lot together, and those times will never be taken away from us. I grew as both a man and a ball player under his guidance and for that I will forever be grateful. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family who have also been such a big part of this city and organization. I know he will be very successful in wherever his next steps in life are."

Would KD welcome a chance to play in his hometown and be reunited with Brooks?

If so, that wouldn't be the only familiarity that the 2014 NBA MVP finds with the Wizards, who have definitely been plotting out their chance to land KD.

Back in July 2014, the Wizards hired David Adkins as their new player development assistant. That's significant because Adkins coached Durant at DeMatha and Montrose Christian in Maryland back in the day.

Hmm... so give Wizards some props for setting up KD nicely. Your move, Kevin.
