‘The Oval’ Recap: Kareem And Antonio Probably Did Hunter A Favor

Hunter starts to change his feelings toward Kareem and Antonio as he openly celebrates Victoria’s condition.

Last week’s episode of The Oval ended with the original First Lady face-planted in her cell after Dumb and Dumber, uh, Kareem and Antonio, accidentally made her fall and bust her head. Let’s pick up from that moment. Kareem and Antonio are freaking out because the first lady is out cold, and she’s bleeding. They plan just to act like they didn’t do anything, and that’s exactly what they do when Donald walks in. Speaking of Donald, last week, he was tased and then dumped back in his office while still unconscious. Hunter said he wanted to see what Donald does when he wakes up. Obviously, Donald continues his reign of terror. Anyway, he can get help for Victoria and ship her off to the infirmary and thinks that Kareem and Antonio had something to do with it. We knew she wasn’t going to die like this.

When Hunter gets the news that Victoria is in the infirmary, he’s disappointed, which is wild but not surprising, and tells his agent that Antonio and Kareem did him a favor and that he’s starting to like them. Speaking of Hunter, we also learn that Priscilla has decided to get on board with Hunter trying to bring his opposition down. Hunter is happy she’s on board, so happy that he will allow her to film him discussing what has been going down and how he plans to deal with it.

Donald visits Victoria in the infirmary, and the word is she is going to be okay, but she’s still unconscious. When the doctor leaves, Donald tells her she is too evil to die, which magically revives her. She tells Donald she has to do something to get out of there. She didn’t mean for it to be as bad as it was but part of her being “unconscious” was shtick. She tells Donald that she wants him on her side and that her next order of business is to kill Hunter. She also reveals that she has been sneaking a drug into Hunter’s food to make his legs not work, but that’s about to wear off soon so Donald needs to figure out how to get that medication back into Hunter’s food before he gets strong again. It will take a lot for that to happen, and the first step would be for Donald to gain Hunter’s trust again.

Nancy calls Sam to tell him she got a call from Barry, who seems to be held captive for ransom. Obviously, this is a dangerous situation, but she plans to go meet him. Sam tells her to go back home and that he’ll check things out for her. You already know Nancy doesn’t listen but hold that thought.

Bobby and Simone have formed an alliance, and the latter takes the former to meet the agents she has been working with. The problem is the agents point out that Eli had been pretending to be on their side the entire time before Simone found out about him and Victoria. That’s a complication because Eli knows a lot about how they plan to move. The only solution for now is that everyone lay low, gather more evidence, and have Simone pretend like everything is all good. Simone makes it clear that this will be tough for her, and rightfully so.

Now let’s fast forward to the end of the episode. We are back with Nancy. Surprise! Nancy doesn’t follow Sam’s instructions and drives to the address she was given where Barry is supposed to be. Sam isn’t there because they didn’t coordinate meeting up there as Sam was supposed to do the dirty work. When she arrives, she’s greeted by some random goon who takes the money from her but gets upset because it’s not enough. Frustrated, he surprisingly walks inside the building and doesn’t even bother with Nancy. This would have been the perfect chance for her to escape, but Nancy isn’t the neon crayon in the box. So, she goes into the building, which appears to be an abandoned warehouse. Eventually, she stumbles upon something that makes her face twist up in horror, and that’s all we know for now. Next week, we’ll see more of what’s happening with that situation and all the other drama and dastardly deeds.
