Will Oprah Host New Show on OWN?

Source says Oprah will consider new talk show if OWN needs the boost.

Despite bidding farewell to viewers on Wednesday after 25 seasons of The Oprah Winfrey Show, TV critics are already whispering that Oprah might bring back her show on her new cable network. An “insider” spoke with Pop Eater’s Rob Shuter and says we can all look forward to another Oprah-helmed talk show. That is, if OWN really, really needs it.

The source told Shuter, “She is going to dedicate herself to her new network and do whatever needs to be done to make sure it's a huge hit." The alleged co-worker of Oprah added, "If this means bringing her own show back to life on her network then she will. I can't imagine that she won't be back on the air before the end of the year."

OWN’s ratings were initially impressive when the network premiered in January, but since then they’ve fallen. The network’s biggest hit thus far is Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes. There have already been management changes at the network and Oprah herself said she would be managing day-to-day operations now that her talk show has ended. Still, Shuter’s source says don’t expect Oprah to linger in the background for too long.

"It would be impossible for Oprah to stay behind the scenes. That's like asking Lady Gaga to get off the stage and manage her backing band,” they said. Actually, Oprah had already announced that she would be filming interview specials throughout the year. Whether or not those turn into a series remains to be seen.
