Colored National Labor Convention lobbies Congress for Black farmers.

<p>The <a href="http://www.archives.gov/publications/prologue/1997/summer/american-labor-movement.html" target="_blank">Colored National Labor Convention</a>, the nation's first Black labor organization, met in Washington, D.C. They petitioned Congress to divide the public lands of the South into 40-acre farms and to provide low-interest loans for Black farmers.</p>
