Eve Talks Lack of Unity Among Female Rappers

The hip hop star hopes for reconciliation.

In a recent interview with MTV, Eve dropped some thoughts on the lack of sisterhood amongst contemporary female rappers. Reflecting on her early career, the Philly hip hop artist feels that times have changed and that the sense of unity between female rappers like Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott is no longer present.

“I feel like when I was out and Missy was out, Kim, whatever, it was kind of shared in a sense and it’s not like that right now,” said the rapper.

Eve added that the unraveled bond between ladies in hip hop “sucks.” With Kim still creating conflict with Nicki Minaj, and newcomer Azealia Banks taking shots at Iggy Azalea, it’s like female hip hop stars can’t find peaceful ground.

However, Eve is looking to the bright side and hopes that the women can come together to collaborate on a track one day.

“It’s a good business move so, yeah, it’d be a dope record. But will it happen? Who knows?” she said.

Whether at war or united as a front, at least female rappers are making moves in the game. The Ruff Ryder’s first lady, who is also an actress and entrepreneur, will release her fourth studio album, Lip Lock, this fall.
