George Zimmerman Drops Case Against Florida State Attorney
George Zimmerman is ending his promised fight against Florida State Attorney Angela Corey for money to cover his legal fees, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The former neighborhood watch volunteer filed paperwork on Feb. 20 that said he is no longer pursuing the case. He is also done with fighting prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda, whom he accused of hiding evidence, such as Trayvon Martin's text messages and photos from the defense attorneys.
Zimmerman will continue to move forward with his defamation suit against NBCUniversal. He accused the media company of portraying him as a racist. A hearing is set for the case Friday. The suit was filed a year ago, but put on hold until Zimmerman's criminal trial was decided.
In July 2013, Zimmerman was found not guilty in the February 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin.
