Lil Durk's lawyer says the rapper is innocent of the gun charge that got him back behind bars earlier this week. Durk was arrested in Chicago Wednesday (Jun. 5), after authorities allegedly found him in possession of a loaded .40 caliber firearm.
Reportedly, the 20-year-old tried to get rid of the gun by throwing it into a car.
During a bond hearing yesterday, attorney Sam Adams Jr. argued that the gun actually belonged to Clarence January, one of Durk's friends, and that January even attempted to confess. "He tried to tell the officer at the time, and the officers took the defendant anyway," Adams said.

"Police didn't want to listen to him," January's signed affidavit stated. "An officer said, 'Give me a reason to kill your black a--.'" It described how January tossed the weapon inside the car, a Hyundai Sonata, not Durk.
Adams came to the hearing with a total of nine signed affidavits attesting to his client's innocence. He asked the judge to set Durk's bail low, explaining that although the Midwest rapper has a record deal the money "has not come in yet."
Also on hand for support was the 20-year-old's pregnant wife. Nicole Covone, 23, stood in court "literally about to pop," alongside Durk's family members. She is due to give birth today and told the media that Durk isn't guilty and that she doesn't want to go into labor with him behind bars. "He's innocent," she said.

Durk has accused the police and media of "targeting" him, but he's no stranger to gun arrests. The Chief Keef affiliate pleaded guilty to a gun charge in 2011 and is weeks away from wrapping up his parole.
