Twitter Is Flipping Out Over Ava DuVernay's New Project
Ava DuVernay is about to make Black sci-fi dreams come true. Her latest project will be out of this world, literally. And Ava is clearly a perfect fit.
After the success of directing Oprah in A Wrinkle in Time, the publicist-turned-history-making director is gearing up for a new film. According to Deadline.com, she is adapting Octavia Butler's Dawn, a science fiction novel about a woman who works with aliens to resurrect the human race after a nuclear war. This will be a made-for-TV movie, but no word on which network this will air.
In case you don't know, Octavia Butler was an iconic sci-fi writer who used social issues in all of her writings. She passed away in 2006. Butler has some die-hard fans, and they were all flipping out on Twitter over Ava bringing her magic to the legendary writer's stories.
