On June 14, Janet Jackson will become the first female pop artist to perform at the I.M. Pei glass pyramid at the Louvre Museum in Paris during the museum’s biannual fundraiser, Liasons au Louvre.

Jackson said she considers it an honor to take the stage at the iconic landmark that is home to some of history’s most prized artistic works. Says Louvre president-director Henri Loyrette, “Janet Jackson is one of the world’s greatest artistic treasures. Accordingly, we are profoundly honored, and believe it most fitting, that her performance in the Louvre Museum will be yet another masterpiece captured under our glorious glass pyramid."

Ms. Jackson will privately entertain an intimate gathering of 250 attendees during the night, which will be the finale of a three-day extravaganza. Funds raised (tickets are $10,000 a pop for visitors outside of France) are used to help restore a Louis XV drawing room that will be featured in the Louvre's 18th-century decorative arts galleries, which will reopen in 2013.

The Liaisons au Louvre was created by Houston socialite and philanthropist, Becca Cason Thrash, and raised $2.7 million in June 2008.
