If it’s not enough being a superstar entertainer, super mom and wife, Beyoncé is developing into quite the scribe.
According to reports, the Grammy Award-winning songstress will win a writing award from the New York Association of Black Journalists for her revealing July 2011 cover story, “Eat, Play, Love,” in Essence magazine. Bey wrote about her nine-month hiatus from the music industry in 2010 before returning to release her platinum-selling fourth studio album 4.
“I’m grateful for the time I gave myself to breathe,” she wrote about her enlightening travels around the world with husband Jay-Z.
"She's a real writer. We had to edit her, but everyone gets edited except Toni Morrison," Essence entertainment director Cori Murray told The New York Daily News.
Since the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, Beyoncé relaunched her official website, where she has been showcasing her writing talents of late. Bey penned open letters to First Lady Michelle Obama and music icon Sade, among others.
The New York Association of Black Journalists will host their awards ceremony on May 15.
