Report: George Zimmerman Involved in Shooting in Florida

George Zimmerman was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in Lake Mary, Florida, according to police.

George Zimmerman was injured in a shooting that involved him and another man Monday afternoon in Lake Mary, Florida, police say, according to WESH.com. Zimmerman suffered a minor injury, according to police who were on the scene.
Matthew Apperson, who called 911 to report the incident, was linked to Zimmerman in a previous road rage incident last September.
"His injuries would be considered minor," Zimmerman's attorney Don West said. "The bullet missed his head. I think it broke a window and lodged in his vehicle."
Ricardo Berrare, a witness, told WESH that Zimmerman was not being helped when he went into an ambulance. "They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door," he said.

The passenger side window of Zimmerman's vehicle also had a bullet hole. Officers believe Zimmerman and the gunman may have been involved in a previous dispute.
This is the latest in a series of run-ins Zimmerman has had with the law. In January, an aggravated assault case against him was dropped. His ex-girlfriend said he threw a wine bottle at her but recanted her story and stopped cooperating with investigators, according to a prosecutor.
Zimmerman is widely known as the man who killed Trayvon Martin in 2012. A jury acquitted him of second-degree murder in July 2013. Trayvon's death sparked protests internationally and called for a renewed look at the fairness of Florida's Stand Your Ground laws.
