Authorities in Chicago have charged teenage rapper Clint Massey, aka "RondoNumbaNine," with murder in connection with a shooting last month, reports the Chicago Tribune.
Massey was held on $2 million bail in a Cook County Bond Court Sunday (March 9) for the shooting death of Javan Boyd. Court records state that Massey was one of two shooters involved in Boyd's murder.
He and the unidentified cohort shot 28-year-old Boyd, who worked for a dispatch company, in the city's West Englewood neighborhood while he was waiting on a passenger, around 4 a.m. on February 22. Parts of the murder were also caught on tape and Massey's fingerprints were found on Boyd's car.
According to witnesses, Massey and the other suspect unloaded bullets into the vehicle's passenger side. The shooting was an act of retaliation for an earlier incident, Assistant State's Attorney Robert Mack said.
Boyd was hit seven times and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. He is survived by an 11-year-old daughter.
Prior to the murder case, Massey had a budding rap career on deck. His collaboration list includes Lil Durk, Fredo Satana and Lupe Fiasco, who was recently named among the Aspen Institute's 2014 Class of Henry Crown Fellows. Fiasco appeared on the remix to Massey's track "Life of a Savage" released last year.
