Rihanna Graces Seven Complex Magazine Covers
One magazine cover wasn't enough for the sensation that is Rihanna so Complex magazine decided to give her seven different sexy covers for its February/March 2013 issue — one representing each album she's released. In the covers representing her first few albums, Rihanna wears a yellow top and a knitted white two-piece to show off her more innocent days. This later gives way to leather and skin as the singer grows bolder and rounds out the cover collection with a topless shot in honor of her seventh album, Unapologetic.
In the cover story, "Full Exposure," the magazine sat down with Rihanna to talk about music, fame, and how to take the perfect self-portrait.
"It's narcissistic, but whatever — everyone does it," the Instagram fan says of her love of self-shots. "I'm capturing personality.... Everybody has their thing they like or don't like to see. It's all in your head. That's why people take their own pictures, because it's difficult for someone else to capture what you seek."
True to form, Rihanna held nothing back when it came to presenting her authentic self and explained how that motivated her latest album.
"When I was making this record I had no intention except the truth," she says. "So whatever is there is real. It's raw. That's why the album is called Unapologetic ... I held back before. I didn't show a lot of myself. I was very guarded. I needed to be open and free and fearless. Basically say, 'F--k it.' What's the worst that can happen? They'll hate me? They've done that before."
