5 Unforgettable Performances From The BET Hip Hop Awards 2020

The best of the best from the biggest night in hip hop.

Although the majority of 2020 was spent inside, the BET Hip Hop Awards was still able to pull off their annual celebration of the genre, complete with a list of heavy-hitting performances.

Some of the artists performing included 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Burna Boy and Chris Martin, City Girls, Gucci Mane, Jhené Aiko, Quavo, Lil Baby, Big Latto, Tobe Nwigwe and Ty Dolla $ign.

With the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards coming up, here are the highlights of what we felt were some of the stand-out performances.

  1. Lil Baby, 42 Dugg

If you’re next to someone whose head does not bob when Lil Baby and 42 Dugg’s "We Paid" comes on, you might not be able to trust them.

And the same energy the track gives through the headphones is what Baby and Dugg delivered, complete with back-up dancers, scaffolding, and flaming pyrotechnics.

  2. Tobe Nwigwe

Tobe Nwigwe’s "Try Jesus" and "Eat" have been viral smash hits that have dominated the internet over the past year.

Similarly, he’s provided stunning visuals to both that have made the singles some of the best content that has come out of late. Period.

For his BET Hip Hop Awards performance, he evoked the spirit of those gems in a mesmerizing performance.

  3. Big Sean, Jhené Aiko & Ty Dolla $ign

Ty Dolla $ign, Big Sean and Jhene Aiko brought the vibes for the performance of their record, "Body Language".

You even get to see Big Sean and Aiko get all up close and personal in the on-stage bed, surrounded by rolling, ethereal smoke and fog.

  5. Burna Boy & Chris Martin

One could make the case that this cross-genre performance between Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Britain's Chris Martin for their political single, "Monsters You Made," was the performance of the night.

Not much was needed but the blending of their voices and the acute songwriting.

  6. Gucci Mane and Big Latto

Gucci Mane joined Big Latto at the infamous Magic City nightclub in Atlanta for their performances of "Youngest N Richest,” “B**ch From Da Souf,” and "Muwop."

You can feel the grit of Atlanta through the screen as the 1017 crew repped their set.
