Babyface Thanks Fans For Making ‘Verzuz’ Battle Against Teddy Riley A Success
After a night of bringing fans back to 90s R&B grooves, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds returned to Instagram to convey a special message regarding his Monday ‘Verzuz’ battle against Teddy Riley.
“Two nights ago, an amazing thing happened. Over four million of you tried to watch us celebrate the music, Teddy Riley versus Babyface. So, I want to take this time right now to say thank you,” he said Wednesday night.
But he also acknowledged two hip-hop superstars for making it happen, along with his virtual opponent in the battle.
“Thank you to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland for putting this whole thing on,” said Babyface. “Thank you to Teddy Riley, who I consider to be one of the greatest producers of all-time. It was an honor and a privilege to share the room with you.”On Monday night (April 20), music lovers tuned into social media for the R&B legends’ much-anticipated IG Live battle.
In a record moment for Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s virtual ‘Verzuz’ battle series, half a million people watched the matchup between Babyface and Riley -- which had to be rescheduled due to technical difficulties on Riley’s end.
The battle was a major hit among those who are using social media while under coronavirus quarantine. Babyface also gave a special shout-out to his “longtime partner and brother,” Antonio “L.A.” Reid.
“I’d also like to give a special thanks to someone who wasn’t in the room physically. But, musically, they were in there the whole night. And that’s to my longtime partner and brother Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid,” he said. “I couldn’t have done any of this without you man because I did so much of it with you. So, thank you L.A. We did this together.”
“And last but not least, I want to thank everyone for making it such a historical night. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay blessed.”
