The #DMXChallenge Is Trending Online For The Most Hilarious Reason Yet

Black Twitter’s ingenuity strikes again.

While the internet is still hype from the recent announcement that Three 6 Mafia is embarking on a reunion tour and will enlist some of our favorite rappers from rap's yesteryears, DMX is currently trending for an entirely different reason.

  • Over the weekend, Black Twitter had some fun with his 1999 Sisqo-assisted single, “What They Really Want,” of his third studio album, And Then There Was X. In the four-minute record, there’s an iconic 30-second breakdown during the second verse where Dark Man X impressively drops a roll call of all his sexual conquests. As it goes (according to X)...

There was Brenda, LaTisha, Linda, Felicia / Dawn, LeShaun, Ines, and Alicia / Teresa, Monica, Sharron, Nicki / Lisa, Veronica, Karen, Vicky / Cookie, well, I met her in a ice cream parlor / Tonya, Diane, Lori, and Carla / Marina, Selena, Katrina, Sabrina / About three Kims, LaToya, and Tina / Shelley, Bridget, Cathy, Rasheeda / Kelly, Nicole, Angel, Juanita / Stacy, Tracie, Rohna, and Ronda / Donna, Ulanda, Tawana, and Wanda,” the Yonkers-born icon rapped.

  • Once the song reemerged in Black Twitter’s hands, the challenge was on- literally.

Female fans cleverly co-opted the lyrics, spinning DMX’s lady rolodex into a moment to celebrate the irrefutable proof that Black women’s hair game has no bounds. Videos showcasing that Black women can rock every color, length, style and texture possible has taken over our timelines – and you have to see it!

The challenge has since gone viral as women from all corners of the internet are proudly showing off their many looks and wig slays — from waist-length box braids and bodacious ‘fros to pixie cuts and hijabi beauties. You truly love to see it.
