Nicki Minaj's Mother Testifies In Brother's Rape Trial

Carol Maraj made some surprising admissions about her son.

Nicki Minaj's brother Jelani's rape trial just reached an intense new height as their mother, Carol Maraj, has joined the case to testify in her son's defense.

Jelani, who was married to Jacqueline Robinson at the time, has been accused of raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

According to theJasmineBRAND.com, his family insists that all of the accusations made against him are untrue, with Robinson's sole motive being to extort the family for $25 million.

The site reports that on the night Jelani was arrested, Carol sent a text message to Jacqueline, reading, "You guys set up my child."

While Carol initially explained to the jurors that she did not remember the text, she eventually admitted to writing it, saying, "A lot of things were going through my head that day. It was a confusing day."

She went on to recall a troubling verbal exchange she and Robinson had earlier that day on their way to the courthouse for the arraignment.

"We had a little conversation," she said. "As we were getting out of the car, she said, 'It's going to take a lot of money to get out of this one.'"

Assistant DA Jared Rosenblatt added, however, that just days after Jelani's arrest, Carol texted Jacqueline again, advising her to keep her business to herself.

"I don't think you should give people details on anything," she reportedly said. "You don't have to share your business with everyone who calls."

During the process, she also testified that her son had a drinking problem but was unsure that his alcoholism coincided with the alleged incident that he is being tried for.

"I knew he had a drinking problem," she admitted. "I can't say if he had a drinking problem during that time period."

The femcee has not yet testified in her brother's case.
