Nicki Minaj Brings Her Remy Ma Diss to Life on a Blow-Up Unicorn for 'Make Love'
Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj’s Black History Month-celebratory reunion followed by their collaborative “Make Love” single gave fans all of the trap thrill they could bear — and then some.
Now, the track, which was suspected to be a warning shot at Remy Ma and fueled her responsive “shETHER” single, has now received a glamorous visual treatment that’s turning things up a few more notches.
Flexing and flashing private jets and clean whips, Mr. Zone 6 leads the video in a mansion decked out with gorgeous bikini-clad ladies while spitting the track’s first verse. Not even halfway into the video, Nicki takes a minimalistic domination of the visual as she sits pretty on a white, blow-up unicorn for her bars in edgy suspenders, chic thigh-high boots and a black pair of designer shades. While her movement is limited to her seat on the unicorn on a healthy green lawn, the energy in Ms. Minaj’s rhymes make up for what we’re missing in action.
“One platinum plaque, album flopped, b***h, where?,” she spits, followed by a classic Nicki cackle. “I took two bars off just to laugh / You see, silly rabbit, to be the queen of rap / You gotta sell records, you gotta get plaques / S, plural like the S on my chest / Now sit your dumb a** down, you got a ‘F’ on your test.”
Sans Gucci, Nicki gave fans a sneak peek of what was to come of the VEVO-premiered music video back in late February with a stream of steamy photos of her outfit from the video shoot. In two of them, R&B songstress Monica even accompanied the Queens-bred femcee while she was out handling her music video duties. Next up, fans will probably be expecting another visual treatment she previewed on Instagram alongside Future, which also had a top-secret location.
That should answer what was keeping Ms. Minaj so busy!
