Young Thug Reached New Heights With His 'Jeffery' Cover, And The Internet is on Fire
Young Thug just posted the cover art for his new mixtape on Instagram tonight (August 25), and it is raising eyebrows. “Jeffery,” titled after his government moniker, Jeffery Williams, features the Atlanta rapper in a blue dress with tiered, cascading ruffles paired with a white button down shirt. His face is covered with what appears to be a paper version of a non la, a traditional Vietnamese hat. The image was shot by photographer Garfield Larmond.
Young Thug also posted the tracklist to Instagram, with a caption explaining that each of the songs is named after one of his idols. The image on the playlist offers another view of his outfit, which includes a nameplate necklace.
At press time, the cover image already has 23,600 likes. The mixtape is set to drop at 12:00 am ET. Young Thug’s androgynous style sense has long been a topic of discussion. In a video for Calvin Klein’s latest campaign, he said, “In my world, you could be a gangsta with a dress or you can be a gangsta with baggy pants. I feel like it’s no such thing as gender.”
Reactions to the cover are mixed. Some fans love it, some are put off by his choice of attire and others just think it's perfect meme fodder.
