‘Friday’ Actor Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister Dead At 62

Lister was most famous for his role as Deebo in the classic 1995 film ‘Friday’ and the 2000 sequel, ‘Next Friday’.

Tommy “Tiny” Lister has reportedly passed away. He was 62.

Cindy Cowan, Lister’s manager, tells People that the actor was exhibiting “COVID symptoms” for a week before he died on Thursday (Dec. 10), although he never not tested positive for the novel coronavirus.  

According to TMZ, a release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says that friends and business associates of Lister had not heard from since Wednesday night (Dec. 9). A welfare check was performed by deputies at his apartment in Marina Del Rey, California, where they found him unresponsive. Lister was pronounced dead at the scene.  

A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Lister was most famous for his role as Deebo in the classic 1995 film Friday and the 2000 sequel, Next Friday. He also played President Lindberg in the sci-fi action film, The Fifth Element, and more recently acted in The Dark Knight.

In addition to his film career, Lister appeared in several television series including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Moesha and The Jamie Foxx Show. He was also a talented voice actor, and credits on The Cleveland Show and Zootopia.

He also starred in notable cameos in music videos for artists 50 Cent, Akon, Michael Jackson, Ice Cube, and Chamillionaire.

Ice Cube, who also starred in Friday, posted a tribute honoring his former co-star.

“RIP Tiny “Deebo” Lister. America’s favorite bully was a born entertainer who would pop into character at the drop of a hat terrifying people on and off camera,” the rapper wrote. “Followed by a big smile and laugh. Thank you for being a good dude at heart. I miss you already.”
