'Good Burger' Bros Kenan & Kel Have Surprise Reunion At The Emmy Awards
Millennials got a moment of nostalgia after comedians Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell had a surprise reunion during last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards.
The longtime homies reconnected during the awards ceremony after Kumani Nanijani coaxed the Saturday Night Alive alum to tend to a customer that happened to be his bro of over two decades, Mitchell. Thompson tapped the Mystery Men actor, and to his delight– it was the homie.
The two men had a touching moment as they rejoiced about seeing one another.
“Can we get you a drink or something?” Thompson asked.
Mitchell answered his homeboy, saying, “You know what, can I get a Good Burger?”
“Make it two Good Burgers,” Thompson added, and the comedians broke into their signature karate move.”
Good Burger was a sketch from Nickelodeon’s hit 1994 show All That. In 1997, the skit was made into a full-length movie that was a hit. The two besties from Chicago also had a self-titled comedy show on the children’s network from 1996 to 2000. Kenan & Kel was the brainchild of a Nickelodeon producer who noticed the pair’s chemistry after they starred in All That.
In August, Thompson hinted at a possible sequel to Good Burger during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Mitchell told Movie Web that he would absolutely be down for another Good Burger film.
“It’s been awesome that people love Good Burger after all these years, even Jimmy Fallon. When he asked us to do that, we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it,’ and to see the standing ovation in the audience and everyone going crazy. It was the gift that just keeps giving.”
He continued, “You never know what can happen. The fans really want a sequel. Would I do a sequel? Yeah, of course. We love Good Burger.”
We do, too!
